Overcoming Resistance: A Path to Your Dreams

25 Aug

Did you know the most frustrated person in the world is someone who has a dream but allows resistance to keep them from the very dream that could change their lives and the lives of others? Resistance is anything that keeps one from starting or completing the vision of one’s life. It shows up anytime we want to start and rarely surrenders. So, let’s identify what resistance is:

  1. It’s the life we live and the life we truly want and what lies between is resistance.
  2. It is evil and keeps us from the intended life God has for us.
  3. It is a toxic environment, one that is rooted in unhappiness and keeps us stunted and less than we were born to be.

What are its characteristics?

  1. It’s “invisible and cannot be seen, touched, heard, or smelled, but it can be felt” Steven Pressfield”
  2. It is the internal enemy that rises from within us.
  3. It will tell us anything to keep us from doing what we know we should be doing.
  4. It is determined to stop us from achieving our goals and dreams.

How do we overcome resistance?

  1. Master the fear of anything that keeps us from pursuing the life we truly want by getting started, being consistent, not procrastinating, sticking to our plan, and understanding that if we want the life we have always envisioned and dreamed about, then we are going to have to push through any and all distractions.
  2. Be determined.
  3. Make it a game every morning to overcome the resistance.
  4. Don’t say but do.
  5. Never make excuses for not doing what it will take to press toward your goals and dreams.
  6. Accept responsibility for the outcomes each day
  7. Never be afraid to start, just start.
  8. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
  9. Keep your eye on the prize.

Remember, resistance wants us to fail and will keep us from having the life we truly desire. So, keep your head in the game and never give up.

“Our whole life is set up in the path of least resistance. We don’t want to suffer. We don’t want to feel discomfort. So the whole time, we’re living our lives in a very comfortable area. There’s no growth in that.” David Goggins

Essential Traits for Success in Business and Life

24 Aug

Would you like to be noticed and valued? Well, there are three difinite attributes you will need to develope to become the most noticed and valued business or person. If we were to drill down even further these attributes will contribute to your success as they relate to family, friends, or organizations you may belong.

First is Loyalty and is know to be foundational in any relationship, be it business or personal. According to Webster’s online dictionary, loyalty means to form a strong alliance and to have a strong feeling of support. It is also defined as faithfulness to commitments or obligations. As an example: you will find favor and reward for complete loyalty to your employer and personal relationships for remaining faithful and committed to those relationships. Do not become swayed by others who may be disgruntled to abandon those relationships. If need be seperate yourself from anyone not committed to the alliance. In doing so you will reveal traits that are highly valued like, trust, respect, and reliability. Never, no never disrespect those who have been gracious enough to hire you, to be your friend, or receive you into their organization. However, if you find that any of these relationships become troublesome, make a graceful exit.

Second is a strong work ethic one that is determined to see the task at hand completed despite any difficulties that arise. It begins with reliability. Your relationships must see your dependability and consistencey. Reliability is a good indicator of your character. No matter what, be reliable. Next you must maintain a positive attitude. Make sure to associate with positive, uplifting people, read good books, listen to podcast that are uplifting and helpful and speak well of yourself and others. Remember also, that being accountable and taking the initiative by going beyond the basic task and seeking ways to improve will get you noticed and valued.

Last and maybe most important is character. Your character will open many doors to greater opportunities than any other trait. Character involves your mental and moral qualities along with your reputation. You do not want to be know in any way for your escapades. Ruin your reputation and you have most likely sidelined yourself from what could have been in that relationship and possibly others. Remember to protect your reputation. Do not hang with those you would not like to become for any reason. Keep your eye on your goals and what you want most out of life.

Here are three quotes to end this blog:

“I place an emormous premium on loyalty. If someone betrays me, I can forgive them rationally, but emotionall I have found it impossible to do so.” Richard E. Grant

“What you do is what matters, not what you think or say or plan.” Jason Fried

“Character makes trust possible, and trust is the foundation of leadership.” John Maxwell
